Following the GIA’s recent announcement about their revised descriptive terms for lab-grown diamonds, it’s more important than ever to understand why these two carbon creations, despite their shared atomic structure, simply cannot be compared on the same scale.

However, to say they are the same because of this shared element is akin to claiming a meal prepared by an amateur cook is identical to one crafted by a Michelin-starred chef, simply because they used the same ingredients.
